Picture out, sound kept
The converter discards the video stream and writes only audio. You do not need to open the recording in an editor or extract the track by hand.

Convert to MP3
You get an MP3 with the sound of your recording: one audio track, no picture, a file that phones, cars and almost every player open.
To convert TS to MP3, add the TS file, keep MP3 as the output and download the result. TS here is the video file used by TV recordings, DVRs and HLS streams, not TypeScript code. The picture is dropped and one audio track is re-encoded as MP3. In our test a 1.02 MB TS with two audio tracks became a 321 KB stereo MP3 at 128 kb/s, and the full 20 seconds were kept.
Transfers use HTTPS, and files converted on the free tier are deleted after 24 hours, so the result is not a long-term archive. Quality depends on the source file, so open the MP3 file once before you share it.
TS (MPEG transport stream)
A video container, not TypeScript code, defined in ISO/IEC 13818-1 (ITU-T H.222.0) for broadcast. It splits audio and video into fixed 188-byte packets, each starting with a sync byte, so a player can recover after transmission errors. It is used by DVB, ATSC and IPTV recordings, DVR and PVR captures, and HLS segments. One file can hold several programs and audio tracks, usually with MPEG-2 or H.264 video, and many phones and editors will not open it directly.
MP3 (MPEG-1 Audio Layer III)
The oldest widely used lossy audio format, dating from the early 1990s. Its compression is less efficient than AAC, but virtually every car stereo, portable player, operating system and audio program made since can open it.
A 20-second TS test clip with two stereo audio tracks, made by us, converted on indox.org
The converter discards the video stream and writes only audio. You do not need to open the recording in an editor or extract the track by hand.
A TS can carry several audio tracks, such as two languages. The converter picks one and there is no option to choose. In our test it took the first track when both had the same number of channels, and the track with more channels when they differed.
We did not set a bitrate. The MP3 came out as 128 kb/s stereo at 48 kHz, the same sample rate as the source audio.
In our test the source ran 20.02 seconds and the MP3 ran 20.06 seconds. The extra 0.04 seconds is padding added by the encoder, not extra content.
Drop the TS file on the box or choose it from your device. Keep the original; it is the only copy that still has the picture and every audio track.
Check that MP3 is the output format and start the conversion. In our test a 20-second clip took 4.3 seconds from the click to Completed.
Save the MP3 and play the first minute. If the recording had several languages or commentary tracks, check that the one you wanted is the one you got.
You hand over a TS recording and take away an MP3 of its sound, with no software to install. The page says plainly that one track is chosen for you, that surround is mixed down to stereo and that the audio is compressed a second time.

The upload box shows the live size limit before you add a file. Signing in raises it; a paid plan does not change it.
TS in, MP3 out. Pick another output on the converter if you need a different format.
Files are encrypted in transit over HTTPS and processed on indox infrastructure.
Free-tier files are kept for 24 hours after the job finishes, then deleted automatically.

A set-top box, TV tuner or recorder often saves programmes as .ts. If you want a programme, a radio show or a talk as audio for a phone or car, an MP3 copy does that without the picture.
Recordings with two languages or an extra commentary hold several audio tracks. This page tells you which one you will get before you convert.
Downloaded stream segments are often .ts files. When only the sound matters, converting to MP3 gives you one file of audio to keep.
Many phones and editing apps refuse the format. The MP3 opens almost anywhere, so you can listen, upload or share the sound.

Add the TS file to the converter in your browser, keep MP3 as the output and download the result. Nothing is installed. The picture is dropped and one audio track is written as MP3.
Only one. In our test, with two stereo tracks, the first was taken and the second was missing from the MP3. When we put a 6-channel track second, that track was taken instead, so the track with the most channels wins and the first wins a tie.
We did not set one. In our test the stereo MP3 came out at 128 kb/s and 48 kHz. We saw no bitrate option on the page, and a higher number would not add quality the source audio does not have.
A little, in principle. The audio in a TS is already lossy, and MP3 compresses it again. For speech and casual listening the difference is small. Keep the original TS if you may need a better copy later.
In our test, yes. The 20.02-second source gave a 20.06-second MP3. The extra 0.04 seconds is encoder padding.
Not in our test. We used the page without an account and saw no limit, quota or paywall message in four conversions. Limits can change, so this is what we saw on 4 November 2026, not a promise.
Here it is the video format, MPEG transport stream, used for broadcast, DVR recordings and HLS streams. It is unrelated to TypeScript code, which also uses .ts.
Some browsers on Linux label .ts files as a text type and the box rejects them. In our test the file worked once it was sent as video. Try another browser or computer, or read the troubleshooting table above.
Not with this page, because MP3 has no video. If you want the whole recording in a more common file, use TS to MP4.
