For recordings from TV, DVRs and camcorders
TS is the container behind many broadcast captures, IPTV recordings and copied-DVD files. The converter reads .ts and also .m2ts, .mts and .m2t with the same MPEG-TS input setting. We tested .ts only.

Convert to MP4
Add a .ts recording and get an MP4 back. In our test the video was re-encoded to H.264 and one audio track was kept.
To convert ts to mp4, add the .ts file, keep MP4 as the output format and download the result. Here TS means a video file (MPEG transport stream), not TypeScript code. In our test a 1.36 MB TS with two audio tracks became a 1.06 MB mp4 with one audio track, and the video was re-encoded, not copied.
Transfers use HTTPS, and files converted on the free tier are deleted after 24 hours, so the result is not a long-term archive. Quality depends on the source file, so open the MP4 file once before you share it.
TS (MPEG transport stream)
A video container, not TypeScript code, defined in ISO/IEC 13818-1 (ITU-T H.222.0) for broadcast. It splits audio and video into fixed 188-byte packets, each starting with a sync byte, so a player can recover after transmission errors. It is used by DVB, ATSC and IPTV recordings, DVR and PVR captures, and HLS segments. One file can hold several programs and audio tracks, usually with MPEG-2 or H.264 video, and many phones and editors will not open it directly.
MP4 (MPEG-4 Part 14)
The container used by current phones, cameras and streaming services. It was designed for codecs with reordered frames, variable frame rates and playback that starts before the download finishes, three things the older AVI structure handles awkwardly.
A 640 × 360 TS test recording (H.264, 10 s, two audio tracks) made by us, converted on indox.org
TS is the container behind many broadcast captures, IPTV recordings and copied-DVD files. The converter reads .ts and also .m2ts, .mts and .m2t with the same MPEG-TS input setting. We tested .ts only.
The output in our test was H.264 video with AAC audio, the pair that phones, browsers and editing apps read without extra software.
The conversion runs on indox servers, so Windows, Mac, Linux and phones all work the same way. You do not need VLC, HandBrake or a command line.
This page says what we measured: the picture was re-encoded, the first audio track was kept bit for bit, and the second was dropped.
Drop the .ts file on the box or choose it from your device. Keep the original, since the MP4 has only one audio track.
Check that MP4 is the output format, start the conversion and wait for Completed. In our test a 1.4 MB recording took 5.9 seconds from the click to Completed.
Save the MP4 and watch it from start to end on the device you care about. Check that the audio language is the one you want.
You hand over a TS recording and take away an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, ready for a phone, an editor or a web page. Nothing is installed on your computer. The page states up front that the picture is re-encoded and that extra audio tracks are dropped.

The upload box shows the live size limit before you add a file. Signing in raises it; a paid plan does not change it.
TS in, MP4 out. Pick another output on the converter if you need a different format.
Files are encrypted in transit over HTTPS and processed on indox infrastructure.
Free-tier files are kept for 24 hours after the job finishes, then deleted automatically.

A .ts file often shows as an unplayable file in Windows or on a phone. An MP4 copy opens in the default player. People who asked about this online usually want the least quality loss, so keep the TS as your master.
Recorders from DVB, ATSC and IPTV sources save TS files. Converting gives a single MP4 for a phone or a TV app. Check the audio track, because only the first is kept.
Some camcorders write .mts or .m2ts files, which use the same transport stream. Editors that want MP4 will take the converted copy, though we tested .ts only.

No. TS on this page is a video container, the MPEG transport stream used for broadcast and recordings. TypeScript files are not video and cannot be converted here.
A little can be lost, because the video is re-encoded. In our test an H.264 TS was decoded and written again as H.264 at the same size, 640 by 360 and 25 frames per second. It cannot look better than the source, so keep the TS.
Re-encoded in both of our tests. The encoder signature in the MP4 differed from the source and the frame count was 251 against 250. The first audio track was copied bit for bit in the H.264 test.
Only the first is kept. Our test file had an English and a French track, and the MP4 held the English one. Check the language before you delete the original.
The converter does not carry subtitle streams into the MP4 by default. We did not test a file with subtitles, so check your result.
Many phones and players do not open the transport stream container. The MP4 container with H.264 and AAC is the common choice. An MPEG-2 picture can also be a problem, but in our test an MPEG-2 file came out as H.264.
Yes, they can all do it and they give you control over audio tracks that this page does not. The converter here is for when you want a result in the browser without installing anything.
We saw none in four anonymous conversions on 4 November 2026, and we are not promising one. Large files take longer, and a phone connection may be the slowest part.
