Works for PNG and for the JPG you call JPEG
JPG and JPEG are the same format with a shorter and a longer extension. Add a .png file and you get a .jpg back; there is no separate tool for the JPEG spelling.

Convert to JPG
Add a PNG and get a JPG back. Transparent areas turn black, so this suits pictures without transparency.
To convert png to jpg, add the .png file, keep JPG as the output and download the result. In our test, a transparent PNG gave a jpg whose transparent area was black, whatever colour the PNG stored under it, so use this for opaque images such as screenshots and photos.
Transfers use HTTPS, and files converted on the free tier are deleted after 24 hours, so the result is not a long-term archive. Quality depends on the source file, so open the JPG file once before you share it.
PNG (Portable Network Graphics)
A lossless raster format with a full alpha channel. It preserves every pixel it is given and supports transparency, which makes it the usual choice for logos, screenshots, and any image with sharp edges or text.
JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)
A lossy photo format from the early 1990s built on block-based DCT compression. It is limited to 8-bit standard dynamic range with no alpha channel, yet it opens in practically every editor, viewer, email client and content management system.
A 1200 × 800 px transparent PNG test image, converted on indox.org

JPG and JPEG are the same format with a shorter and a longer extension. Add a .png file and you get a .jpg back; there is no separate tool for the JPEG spelling.
The conversion runs on indox servers, so it works on Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone alike. In our test we converted without creating an account.
Many converter pages only say transparency 'is flattened'. We converted two transparent test files and report the exact colour, the edge behaviour and what happened to dark text, so you can decide before you convert.
Drop the file on the box or choose it from your device. Keep the original PNG: it is your lossless copy, and a JPG cannot be turned back into it.
Check that JPG is the output format, then start the conversion. In our test it took about 3 seconds from the click to Completed.
Open the result before you send or upload it. If your PNG had a transparent background, check that black is acceptable; if it is not, fix the PNG first (see the limits).
You hand over a PNG and take away a JPG that uploads, emails and opens everywhere. The page explains what the converter does to transparency before you try it, so a logo does not come back on a black rectangle.

The upload box shows the live size limit before you add a file. Signing in raises it; a paid plan does not change it.
PNG in, JPG out. Pick another output on the converter if you need a different format.
Files are encrypted in transit over HTTPS and processed on indox infrastructure.
Free-tier files are kept for 24 hours after the job finishes, then deleted automatically.

Marketplaces and store builders sometimes ask for JPG. If your product picture is already on a solid background, a JPG goes through. If it is a transparent cut-out, expect a black background and add a white one first.
Screenshots are opaque, so they convert without the transparency problem. Expect small edge changes around text, and keep the PNG when sharp text matters.
A small JPG preview is quick to email or attach, while the PNG stays as the master. Check the background on anything exported with an alpha channel.
If a transparent PNG came out with a black background elsewhere, that is how JPG handles missing transparency. This page shows it on a real file and gives the fix.

Open the converter, add your PNG file, keep JPG as the output and download the result. In our test this worked anonymously, with no account, in about 3 seconds for a 1200 × 800 px image.
It turns black. A JPG cannot store transparency, and in our test all four corners of the output were black (0, 0, 0). Partly transparent edge pixels were blended with black as well.
We saw no background option in our run, and a PNG that stored white under its transparent pixels still came out black. Place the image on a white layer in an editor, export that as PNG, then convert it.
Some. JPG is lossy. On the opaque part of our test image the mean error was 1.36 out of 255 (PSNR 34.07 dB), with larger changes on hard edges and text. Keep the PNG as your master.
The JPG stores colour at half resolution (4:2:0), so hard coloured edges bleed. In our test a red and white edge picked up a pinkish halo. For text-heavy images PNG usually stays cleaner.
No. JPG and JPEG are the same format, and the converter gives you a .jpg file either way.
Not always. Our 36.3 KB transparent test graphic became 34.5 KB, about 5% smaller. That is one synthetic image with large flat areas; your file will differ, so compare the two sizes.
In our test the embedded sRGB profile was kept, and the server added a small EXIF block with orientation and resolution. We did not test a photo with camera or location data, so we cannot say what happens to that.
No. The transparent pixels were replaced by black, and JPG compression has discarded detail. Keep the original PNG.
