Standard Form 1418 (SF 1418): Performance Bond for Other than Construction Contracts

Standard Form 1418 (SF 1418), Performance Bond for Other than Construction Contracts, is a four-page bond form with its instructions on page 3. The footer says it is prescribed by GSA under FAR (48 CFR) 53.228(n), and GSA hosts it in its forms library. The edition printed on the form is STANDARD FORM 1418 (REV. 10/2023), with OMB Control Number 9000-0001, and the footer says the previous edition is not usable.

The face names the principal, the surety or sureties, the penal sum, the contract and any option, then sets out the obligation. The form says the obligation is void if the principal performs and fulfills the contract during the base term or an option term and any extensions, during the life of any guaranty, and under any duly authorized modifications. It also describes what the guaranty for a base term and for an option term covers.

The instructions say that unless otherwise specified, the bond shall be submitted to the contracting office that awarded the contract. You can fill it out free in your browser on this page and download the result without an account.
