Application for Assumption Approval and/or Release from Personal Liability to the Government on a Home Loan
VA Form 26-6381 is the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Application for Assumption Approval and/or Release from Personal Liability to the Government on a Home Loan. VA's page lists it under Housing assistance. The seller on the loan completes it and returns it to the VA office shown on the form, and VA uses the information to decide whether it can approve the request for assumption approval and/or release of liability.
The form is one page. Section I is completed by VA and holds the return address and the VA loan number. Section II is completed by the seller and covers the seller, the property, the person who will assume the loan, the status of the sale, the loan servicer and any liens. The form notes that using it does not affect the seller's liability on a VA-guaranteed loan from a private lender.
The form carries OMB Approved No. 2900-0110. You can fill out the PDF free in your browser on this page and download the result without an account.
