Form G-325A: Biographic Information (for Deferred Action)

Form G-325A, Biographic Information (for Deferred Action), is the form USCIS uses for requests for initial and subsequent deferred action. The instructions describe deferred action as a discretionary determination to defer removal as an act of prosecutorial discretion, for a specified period, unless DHS chooses to terminate it.

The form is not used for deferred action related to DACA, Violence Against Women Act self-petitions, or A-3, G-5, T and U nonimmigrant status. The USCIS page names military service members and their family members and non-military deferred action as the cases it covers.

Part 3 of the form also lets a requestor ask for an Employment Authorization Document upon a grant of deferred action. The instructions call this an alternative to filing a separate Form I-765 under the (c)(14) category.

How to fill out Form G-325A

  1. 1

    Use the current edition

The USCIS page lists edition 01/20/25 and says the edition date and page numbers need to be visible at the bottom of every page of a printed form, all from the same edition, or the form may be rejected.

  2. 2

Write clearly and answer every question

Type or print in black ink. The instructions say to write N/A where a question does not apply and None where a numeric answer is zero.

  3. 3

Choose the filing type in Part 2

More than one filing type may be selected. The instructions say to give a brief statement and supporting evidence for each one selected.

  4. 4

Decide on Parts 3 and 4

Answer Yes in Part 3 only if you also want an EAD. For a Social Security card, the instructions say to answer Yes to Part 4 Items 1 and 3 and give both parents' names in Part 1.

  5. 5

Use Part 8 for extra answers

Put your name and A-Number at the top of each extra sheet, note the page, part and item number, and sign and date each sheet.

  6. 6

    Sign Part 5

USCIS says it rejects any unsigned form, and a stamped or typewritten name is not accepted. This page lets you fill the form online free, then print it for signature.

Where to file, evidence and fees

Filing by mail

The USCIS page says to file by mail based on where you live, at the Chicago, Dallas or Phoenix Lockbox. Check the Form G-325A page for the current address before mailing.

Fee and payment

The fee is on the USCIS Fee Schedule page (Form G-1055), which can change. The USCIS page says paper filings are paid by card with Form G-1450 or by bank account with Form G-1650, unless Form G-1651 shows an exemption.

Employment authorization fee

The USCIS page says a Yes in Part 3 needs the Form I-765 fee, and not a separate Form I-765. A request based on SIJ deferred action is fee exempt. Form I-912 can be used to ask for a fee waiver.

Evidence by filing type

The USCIS page lists evidence for each type, such as a Statement of Interest from a labor agency, DD Form 4 and proof of family relationship for military cases, or a government agency letter. Most types include proof of identity and nationality.

Biometrics

The instructions say USCIS may ask for an interview or biometrics at any time, and that a request may not be granted if the appointment is missed.

If deferred action is not granted

The USCIS page says the related employment authorization request will also be denied and refunds will not be issued.

Who files Form G-325A?

  • People inside the United States

The instructions say a person inside the United States may request deferred action from USCIS by submitting this form and supporting evidence, outside the DACA, VAWA self-petition, A-3, G-5, T and U categories.

  • Military family members

Two filing types cover a spouse, widow(er), parent, son or daughter of someone on active duty or in the Selected Reserve of the Ready Reserve, or of someone who previously served and was not dishonorably discharged.

  • Special Immigrant Juveniles

The instructions limit SIJ deferred action requests to an initial grant after an approved SIJ-based Form I-360 when no visa is available, or a subsequent period. The USCIS page describes a policy rescission effective May 10, 2026.

  • Other filing types

Part 2 also lists labor investigation based requests, medical or humanitarian requests, statelessness, a referral from a government agency other than a labor agency, and Other.

  • Who signs

The requestor signs. The instructions say a parent or legal guardian may sign for a requestor under 14, and a legal guardian may sign for a mentally incompetent person.
