IRS e-file Signature Authorization (Spanish Version)
Form 8879(SP) is the Spanish version of Form 8879, IRS e-file Signature Authorization. Its Spanish title is "Autorización de Firma para Presentar la Declaración por medio del IRS e-file". The form and its General Instructions on page 2 are in Spanish; a few references, such as Publication 1345 and Form 9325, keep their English titles with a Spanish translation in parentheses. The English edition is Form 8879.
The page 2 instructions describe it as the declaration and signature authorization for a return e-filed through an electronic return originator (ERO). It is completed when the Practitioner PIN method ("Método del PIN del Preparador Profesional") is used, or when the taxpayer lets the ERO enter or generate the taxpayer's PIN. This revision covers original or amended Forms 1040, 1040-SR, 1040-NR, 1040-SS, 1040-PR and 1040-X for tax years 2019 and later.
The header says the ERO obtains and keeps the completed form. You can fill out the PDF free in your browser on this page and download the result without an account.

"Número de identificación de presentación" (Submission Identification Number, SID), and the names and Social Security numbers of the taxpayer and spouse.

Return information for the tax year ending December 31, in whole dollars: adjusted gross income, total tax, federal income tax withheld on Forms W-2 and 1099, refund, and amount owed.
The taxpayer's declaration under penalty of perjury and consent to send the return, plus authorization for an electronic funds withdrawal when one applies.
"PIN del contribuyente" and "PIN del cónyuge": one box lets a named ERO firm enter or generate the PIN, the other says the person will enter it. Then signature and date.
"Certificación y autenticación", only for the Practitioner PIN method: the ERO's six-digit EFIN and five-digit PIN, then the ERO's signature and date.
Purpose, a when-and-how chart, ERO and taxpayer duties, refund status information and key points for EROs.
The labels are in Spanish. Each item gives the English meaning.
The ERO enters names and SSNs and copies the Part I amounts from the return, including zeros where they apply.
The taxpayer and the spouse each check one box. A PIN is five digits, not all zeros. The second box is only for someone entering their own PIN on a Practitioner PIN method return.
When the ERO may enter the PIN, the line takes the ERO firm name ("Nombre de la empresa ERO"), not the name of the person preparing the return.
Sign and date, then return the form to the ERO in person, by U.S. mail, private delivery service, email, website or fax. Page 2 says the return is not sent to the IRS until the ERO has the signed form.
For the Practitioner PIN method only, the ERO enters the six-digit EFIN followed by its five-digit PIN, not all zeros, and signs.
After filing, the ERO enters the 20-digit SID or associates Form 9325 with the form.
You get the real form, filled in a browser tab, with nothing standing between you and the finished PDF.
The form says not to file it with the IRS unless required. Page 2 says the ERO keeps it for 3 years from the return due date or the IRS received date, whichever is later, and may keep it electronically under Rev. Proc. 97-22.
To revoke an electronic payment, the form gives the U.S. Treasury Financial Agent at 1-888-353-4537. Requests are received no later than 2 business days before the payment date.
Page 2 says to wait at least 72 hours after the IRS acknowledges the e-filed return, or 11 weeks if Form 8379 was filed, then use www.irs.gov/Reembolsos, 800-829-4477 or 800-829-1954.
The ERO gives the taxpayer a copy of the signed form on request, and a corrected copy if the return changes.
The instructions point to www.irs.gov/Efile and say to click Español. The header points to www.irs.gov/Form8879SP for the latest information.

Per page 2, the ERO enters names and SSNs, completes Part I from the return, writes the ERO firm name if authorized to enter the PIN, and adds the 20-digit SID.
The taxpayer checks the prepared return, picks one PIN box in Part II, signs and dates by hand or by electronic signature if the software supports it, and returns the form to the ERO.
A spouse on a joint return has a separate PIN choice, "PIN del cónyuge", and signature line. Page 2 says a taxpayer may not choose or enter an absent spouse's PIN.
The note in Part I says these filers complete line 4 only and leave lines 1, 2, 3 and 5 blank.
The chart on page 2 says the form is not completed when the ERO does not use the Practitioner PIN method and the taxpayer enters their own PIN.
The ERO and the taxpayer share it. The ERO keeps the signed form, and the form says not to file it with the IRS unless required.

Yes. Page 2 lists Form 1040-PR among the returns this revision covers, and the Part I note tells 1040-SS and 1040-PR filers to complete line 4 only.
The form asks for five digits that are not all zeros. The PIN serves as the signature for the e-filed return being authorized.
