Earned Income Credit (Spanish Version)
Schedule EIC (Form 1040) (sp) is the IRS Spanish version of the 2025 Schedule EIC (Form 1040), Earned Income Credit, for filers who want to read the schedule in Spanish. Its Spanish title is "Anexo EIC (Formulario 1040), Crédito por Ingreso del Trabajo (EIC)," with the subtitle "Información sobre el Hijo Calificado" (Qualifying Child Information), and its questions and notes are written in Spanish. The English edition is Schedule EIC (Form 1040).
The schedule says to complete it and attach it to Form 1040 or 1040-SR only if there is a qualifying child. Page 1 has a column for each of up to three children: name, Social Security number, year of birth, student or disability status, relationship and the months the child lived with the filer in the United States in 2025. Page 2 explains the purpose of the schedule, what to do for a qualifying child without an SSN, and gives a chart of who is a qualifying child. It points to www.irs.gov/ScheduleEICSP for the latest information.
The PDF can be filled out free in the browser on this page and downloaded without an account.

Name(s) shown on the return and Social Security number, then a Before you begin box that points to the Form 1040 line 27a instructions and Publication 596.
Says the EIC cannot be claimed for a child who did not live with you more than half the year, that a claim made without qualifying can bar the credit for up to 10 years, and that missing lines slow the refund.
One column each for Hijo 1, Hijo 2 and Hijo 3. Line 1 is the child's first and last name, line 2 the child's SSN and line 3 the year of birth.
Line 4a asks if the child was under 24 at the end of 2025, a student and younger than you (or your spouse if filing jointly). Line 4b asks if the child was permanently and totally disabled at any time in 2025.
Line 5 is the child's relationship to you. Line 6 is the number of months the child lived with you in the United States during 2025, no more than 12.
Explains the purpose of the schedule, the rule for a child without an SSN, the 2 or 10 year bar after an improper claim, and a chart of the relationship, age, joint return and residency tests.
Enter the name(s) exactly as shown on Form 1040 or 1040-SR and your Social Security number.
Enter each child's first name, last name and SSN. The form says these should match the child's Social Security card, or the IRS may reduce the EIC, and gives the Social Security Administration number 800-772-1213 to correct a card. With more than three qualifying children, it says to list only three to get the maximum credit.
Enter the child's year of birth. If the child was born after 2006 and is younger than you (or your spouse if filing jointly), the form says to skip lines 4a and 4b and go to line 5.
Check Sí (Yes) or No. Yes on line 4a goes to line 5, No goes to line 4b. On line 4b, Yes goes to line 5, and the form says No means the child is not a qualifying child.
Enter the child's relationship to you, for example son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, niece, nephew or eligible foster child.
Enter the months the child lived with you in the United States in 2025. The form says to enter "7" if that was more than half of 2025 but less than 7 months, and "12" if the child was born or died in 2025 and your home was the child's home for more than half the time the child was alive.
You get the real form, filled in a browser tab, with nothing standing between you and the finished PDF.
The schedule says "Complete y adjunte al Formulario 1040 o 1040-SR solamente si tiene un hijo calificado" (complete and attach to Form 1040 or 1040-SR only if you have a qualifying child). It goes to the IRS with that return.
Page 2 says to see the instructions for line 27a of Form 1040 to figure the amount of the credit, or to have the IRS figure it.
The form says the IRS may ask for documents showing you lived with each qualifying child, such as school or child care records and other records that show the child's physical address.
Page 2 says a claim found to be due to reckless or intentional disregard of the EIC rules bars the EIC for the next 2 years, a fraudulent claim bars it for the next 10 years, and penalties may also apply.
The schedule points to www.irs.gov/ScheduleEICSP for the latest developments, such as legislation enacted after it was published.
The questions, cautions and chart are in Spanish. The English edition with the same line numbers is Schedule EIC (Form 1040).

The schedule says to complete and attach it to Form 1040 or 1040-SR only if there is a qualifying child. It is not filed on its own.
The chart on page 2 lists a son, daughter, stepchild, eligible foster child, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, half sister, or a descendant of any of them, such as a grandchild, niece or nephew.
Page 2 says a filer whose qualifying child has no SSN as defined in the Form 1040 line 27a instructions, and who is otherwise eligible, can claim the EIC only for themselves and still completes and attaches the schedule.
The form says the EIC cannot be claimed for a child who did not live with the filer for more than half the year, even if the filer paid most of the child's support.
The person filing Form 1040 or 1040-SR completes it and attaches it to that return, which goes to the IRS. The name and Social Security number line asks for the name(s) shown on that return.
