Form I-140G: Immigrant Petition for the Gold Card Program

Form I-140G, Immigrant Petition for the Gold Card Program, is used to petition for an employment-based immigrant visa under the Gold Card program established by Executive Order 14351, The Gold Card (Sep. 19, 2025). An individual or a corporation or similar entity may file it.

The instructions call Form I-140G the first step in the Gold Card process. Once the petition is approved and an immigrant visa number is available, the principal beneficiary and any accompanying spouse or children included in the petition complete immigrant visa processing at a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad before being admitted as lawful permanent residents.

The petition centers on money: the instructions say it has to show sufficient funds for an unrestricted gift to the U.S. Department of Commerce, and that all funds for the gift were lawfully obtained and will be transferred in compliance with U.S. law. The form itself says it can only be filed through a USCIS online account.

How to fill out Form I-140G

  1. 1

    Register and wait for USCIS

The USCIS page says USCIS will contact you when it is time to create or log in to your USCIS online account to file. The PDF can help you gather answers, but it says not to submit the form in paper.

  2. 2

Choose one petitioner type in Part 1

Select only one box, then give the total number of people requesting a Gold Card, counting the principal beneficiary and any spouse or children listed in Parts 5 and 6.

  3. 3

Trace every account in Part 2

List each account the gift funds will come from. The instructions say a copy of the account owner's passport biographical page is needed when the petitioner is not the legal account owner.

  4. 4

Select each source of funds in Part 3

The instructions list evidence for each source, such as five years of complete bank records for income. List the evidence with page or exhibit numbers in Part 12.

  5. 5

    Answer the attestation questions

The form says to answer Yes to any question that applies, even if records were sealed or cleared, and to explain each Yes in Part 12 with relevant documents.

  6. 6

    Sign in Part 9

The self-petitioner or the corporate petitioner's authorized official signs. The instructions say an unsigned petition or an invalid signature leads to rejection or denial.

Where to file, evidence and fees

Online only

The USCIS page says Form I-140G can only be filed through a USCIS online account and cannot be filed by mail. Help is available by sending a message through that account after registration is confirmed.

Fee

The Form I-140G page states the fee, charged for each person included in the petition. The instructions say it is submitted to the Department of Commerce, is not refunded, and is in addition to the gift. Check the form page on the day you file.

The gift and wire transfer

Part 1 of the form prints the gift amounts. The instructions say wire instructions come after the immigrant visa interview, and evidence of the completed transfer is uploaded to the USCIS online account.

Corporate evidence

Corporate petitioners include an organizational chart and at least one of U.S. federal tax returns, annual reports or audited financial statements for each of the last 3 years.

Copies and translations

Submit legible copies unless an original is requested. A foreign-language document needs a full English translation with the translator's signed certification and contact information.

Biometrics and interview

USCIS may ask the petitioner and any beneficiary for biometrics or an interview. The instructions say a missed biometrics appointment may lead to denial.
